The premise of this movie may sound like a version of the keystone cops - but it's NOT! It's like entering a really scary "Fun House" and depicts the deadly results of a confrontation between the two major protagonists mentioned above in the "Headline". While the means by which various members of each side are dispatched comes across as "horror humor", there is nothing truly laughable about any of it in a comedic sense. It does, however, reflect the kind of extreme bloodshed seen in so many similar type films. I refrained from using the word "genre" because this movie does have considerable originality, uniqueness, surprises, twists, and humanity. In a distant way, it also reminded me of the film "Underworld" where werewolves attacked a Family of vampires. Some of the actors are notable from other roles, but may not be recognizable at first. As such, the acting is commendable and the far out story line gains credibility as it progresses. The word "Party" in the title does not mean a happy occasion but rather indicates a "group"; and the words "Monster Party" are highly appropriate. How each "group" fares in this struggle is the major "fun" of this film. Will the burglars succeed? Will they be stopped? Would the burglars have attempted to rob this house had they known who the occupants really were? Are the people completely "bad" on both sides? Is the caveat "Abandon hope all ye who enter here" applicable? A final note: The burglars were able to enter the house - in reality, a spectacular mansion - in the guise of hired waiters for a special dinner. Its internal contents are quite valuable, especially one Samurai sword in particular.
