This movie has what I love to call FLOW: it has definite purpose and goes about it's business in a logical step by step fashion, as the true nature of a terrible freak of nature is about to wreak havoc on the city of London. It almost runs like a whodunnit of sorts, as a determined man of the Atomic Commission wants to get to the bottom of what is actually happening. And what is happening, is the old standby of the 50s: Radiation, causing something to grow way beyond it's normal limits.Featuring classic stop motion animation from the original master, Willis O'Brien, who did the first King Kong and became the mentor for his even greater protege: Harryhausen. It fits perfectly into the mostly dark Black and White filming, which definitely adds to the atmosphere in this movie.A quintessential, good old fashioned classic Giant monster movie, that you will find yourself watching over and over again. Again, they literally, do not know how to make films like this anymore!!
